The joint work between Latpower and OMT SRL – Chile, allowed to carry out during October 2020, the implementation of an off-grid alternative energy system for one of the most important mining companies in the country located in the second region of Antofagasta, Comuna de Calama – Chile, and thus allow them to have a reliable and efficient telecommunications and data connection:
- HYBRID ENERGY SYSTEM: the heart of the installation was ENATEL’s FLEXI2 Hybrid system. This equipment integrated a solar section with SM2048HE (48VCC/2KW) solar converter modules, another with RM2048HE (48VCC/2KW) rectifier modules powered by the generator set, and a last one with a CM1024-48 (24V/1KW) converter to generate a 24VDC auxiliary voltage required for loads other than battery bank voltage. All the intelligent management was done by the SM36 controller for local and remote access.
- BATTERY BANK: The backup of the system during the night or days without sun, was made with BLUNERY batteries of lithium technology “LFP” BATBLU4850 in such a way as to have a bank of 48VCC/150Ah. The modules installed in parallel made it possible to obtain a remarkably higher backup than expected.
- PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS: The low power consumed by the loads and the recharging of batteries, allowed to optimize the solar section using only 3 photovoltaic panels of 350Wp in series connection. Its assembly was in a metal structure mounted on the floor.
- ELECTROGEN GROUP: This unit, provided by the mining company, was a 220VAC-50Hz/66KVA CUMMING unit. Although a little oversized for the application, the management of the SM36 smart controller made it possible to make it compatible with the load while optimizing its operation.
